Lunch Club Recipes

The past two weeks of lunch club at our office have been delicious. Rachel made this delicious grilled cheese recipe from the blog Grilled Cheese Social. Click on the link below the image to get the recipe for yourself.  I personally love anything with buffalo chicken in it and this was no exception. She brought in her Foreman grill and it was easy to make quickly.

This week was my week to make lunch. I decided to try out a soup recipe in my crock pot.  It's been warming up a little bit here in Maryland, but since our office is practically an igloo I figured we would need the warm up at lunch. I chose a recipe from The Crockin' Girls. I also think I may have found one of my new favorite go to recipe sites.  There are so many delicious ideas on their page.

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend!

Bucket of Bubbles

I made these cute little Easter bucket gifts the other night. I cut out some vinyl bunnies on my silhouette machine.  Then instead of candy I added some colored bubbles and bubble wands. The bubbles came in one large set and I got them on clearance at Target last year for $2. The buckets were from Target too, so I spent a total of $4 on these two little gifts.  I also just wrote their names on the vinyl that way I wouldn't need a gift tag too.

Thankfully it seems all that snow we had yesterday is melting rather quickly. Hopefully our little egg hunt will be without snow on the ground this weekend.

Kitchen Progress

Progress has been made on the kitchen! With weeks of not so nice weather and even several inches of snow falling today we have had some trouble finding time to cut the counters.  On Saturday, Rob was able to get the counters cut because it was a bit warmer and our sink had finally been delivered.

I chose this black granite composite sink for the kitchen. I could not find one in stock at Lowe's or Home Depot, but I found a similar one on Amazon.  Rob was able to get installed with only a few hiccups. It may have taken a while longer than he had anticipated, but he also had to change out some plumbing because our previous sink was significantly smaller.

I picked up the Moen Annabelle faucet in a brushed nickel finish at Lowe's. I had gotten a $10 off coupon recently, so I was able to apply it to this purchase. After choosing the faucet I headed over to the display center to see if they had any granite composite sinks to check out.  I found that the one on display had the exact faucet I chose installed at the display kitchen.  I figured it had to be a good choice then.

Next up determining what to do with our back splash. We are still a little up in the air with that decision.  The cost breakdown for these additions were approximately $750.00. The faucet was $200, the sink was $195 and the counters at Ikea were $350.  We are very happy with all of these choices so far.  Wynn has been enjoying playing in the sink and "washing" dishes.

This Is Me Photography Challenge

Let me first give you an explanation for the photo below. Me = just back home from my body pump class a hot sweaty mess and Wynn = cute no matter what.

Amy at While Wearing Heels asked everyone to try and take pictures of themselves instead of staying behind the camera. This month she asked for pictures with the theme of "Looking Down".
While Wearing Heels

I figured this is my camera on my phone looking down on us while we watch another fun filled episode of "PB&J Otter".

I'm glad I accepted the challenge set forth by Amy! She's hosting a link party for the pictures at her site next week. I hope you'll join in.

Peep Garden

Our daughter, Wynn, has recently become obsessed with Peeps.  She helped me create a Peep garden using a small wooden crate from Michaels, lollipop sticks, chevron washi tape, a piece of Styrofoam, paper shred and of course Peeps.

We simply wrapped washi tape around the crate. Filled the bottom of the crate with a small chunk of Styrofoam to have someone to stick the peeps into. We topped it with paper shred to resemble dirt according to Wynn. Then Wynn pushed the peeps onto the lollipop sticks and into the Styrofoam.  Finally we glued some scrapbook paper leaves to the sticks. It was fun to do together.

Beach Bag Gift

I'm officially ready for warmer weather whenever it decides to arrive. I keep thinking that if I do spring or warm weather projects that the weather will change to match that. I wanted to create a cute gift for my mom just because. She is headed down south to the beach soon and I thought I'd put together a new beach bag for her.  I picked this bag up in my favorite spot the Target Dollar Spot last summer for $2.  I took some leftover fabric and made some simple rosettes and glued them to the bag.

I filled the bag with some beach related goodies including a new towel, water bottle and of course sunscreen.
Here is the bag filled with the goodies.  There are many ways in which this bag can be used or filled with. I hope Target has something similar to this bag this year.

We had a mix of snow, sleet and rain here yesterday so here is hoping that that is the last of the white stuff until next year.  Thanks for stopping by!

Lunch Club

We recently started a lunch club at our office between myself and two other girls. We decided that we were tired of the same old lunches and needed to have something to look forward to each week.  Each week one of us will bring in lunch for the three of us. The first week I made this Poppy Seed Chicken Salad Recipe from Coastal Living Magazine.

Apparently we are on a poppy seed dressing kick because the next week my friend made a Chicken Apple salad with poppy seed Dressing.

I'm excited to see what we have for lunch this week.  I will share some of the recipes that we have in the future. Maybe this will inspire you to get together with your coworkers and do something similar. We plan on bringing in a panini maker soon too and it can help us make some of the fun recipes we have all pinned.  We've even started a lunch club group board on Pinterest to help us come up with some meal ideas.

Simple Baby Gift

If you know anything about me it must be that I am really into quick, cute and inexpensive gift ideas.  I had a friend recently host a christening for her daughter. I wanted to give her a little something for her room.  I found this white washed frame at Michaels for minimal cost. Then I added some scrapbook paper, some striped vellum and a small cardboard "a" for the little one's name.  I added this to a few other items that I had picked up for this sweet girl. I figured that this is something that could stay with her and was not too baby like.

This is a gift idea that can be changed up in a variety of ways too. It was a total of around $7.

A Little Touch of Spring

I like to find items off of the website Woot.  They have some great sale prices and I picked up the Christmas tray below for $3.00 a few weeks ago. I placed some scrapbook paper on top of the tray.  I added a sequin bunny from the Target dollar spot and some eggs from Jo-Ann's.

I'm thinking I can just change up the paper and use this for all seasons down the road.

Light Fixture Change Up

A while back I picked up a light fixture from Lowe's for a little over twenty dollars. It was originally over $100. I figured that I could make it work. Well it turned out smaller than I had anticipated and I just had Rob put it up anyways.

While at IKEA I picked up this extra large shade for $30.  I took off the small shades that originally came with the fixture.  Then I had Rob place it over top of the light fixture currently over our kitchen table. It sits perfectly over the top piece of the fixture.

It makes a huge difference in the scale of the fixture with the rest of the room.  Considering the entire light cost around $55 bucks total I figure it is still a great deal.

Egg Hunt Shirt

I made this cute shirt for Wynn using the heat transfer vinyl and a Silhouette machine.  It was a quick project. I simply picked up a shirt at Target for five dollars and ironed on the egg shape that I cut out.  It took a while to get the egg to stay attached to the shirt, but I think it turned out well. I hope she will agree to wear it for our egg hunt coming up. But, at this age it seems a dress with trump any other outfit. Such a fashionista at the age of three.

Washi Tape Candy Jar

I had bought some spice jars to use at Wynn's birthday party. I wanted to find another way to use them...and I thought I would use them for actual spices. However, since my spices are strewn throughout the house as my kitchen is not exactly in one piece I had used them another way.
I took some cute washi tape and wrapped the jar and added a simple paper flower. Then I filled the jar with some egg shaped candy from the Dollar Tree.  I think I have been there to the Dollar Tree too many times recently as the cashier said hello to me by name when I walked in. :)

Egg Art

I found some Popsicle sticks on clearance at Michaels for less than a dollar a few weeks back. I decided to use them to make an Easter egg. I cut out an egg shape out of some scrapbook paper and reused the frame from my Valentine's mantel.  I then placed it on one of my floating shelves with my spring V and a little jar of candy.  Wynn keeps asking when she can eat the candy, and I think Rob has been sneaking some when I have not been looking.

Thanks for stopping by! The snow we had here yesterday is slowly melting and I'm looking forward to the warmer weather are supposed to have this weekend.

Kitchen Progress

This weekend included some kitchen projects. We are moving along and it looks like this will be a longer process than anticipated. Rob was hoping to reuse the drawers on the bottom half of our cabinets and replace the fronts. However, they were attached very well and would not be able to be separated. Therefore Rob had to build six new drawers along with drawer fronts. He also has to build three new cabinet doors to go with this bottom half as well.  We decided to go black on the bottom cabinets and white on the uppers.  Here is how they look so far... and of course please excuse the mess as everything is sort of tossed around lately due to the kitchen being in shambles.

Then we finally agreed on a back splash idea. It is not that we did not agree on anything it was that we were not really in a hunt for anything in particular. We decided on Honey Onyx but we are unsure whether we should do the small or large rectangles.  I bought these samples from Amazon and hope to place an order soon once we figure out what we need. Let me know your thoughts on which size you think we should get.  The larger tile shown is one inch by two inches in size.

I'm headed to Ikea on Friday (cross your fingers snow doesn't get in my way) to order our counter tops for the one side of the kitchen. The other side will have to wait for now. Unless someone wants to sponsor us and give us a quartz counter. I don't think that will happen though.

Thanks for checking us out today!

Lampshade Update

About two weeks ago I headed over to Kohls to use a $10 gift card they sent for my birthday. I found this lamp on clearance and thought it would work great in my living room.  I ended up paying $13 for the lamp, which I thought was a great deal.  I thought that the shade was a little plain though.

I am still trying to learn how to use the silhouette machine, and I thought I would try and cut out something for the lampshade. The design I chose goes nicely with the pattern on my rug. I simply used the vinyl adhesive and attached it to the shade in a matter of minutes.

We made some progress in the kitchen this weekend. We still have a ways to go but at least we have agreed on a back splash idea.  Thanks to Jana from Little Web Writing Hood for doing some updates to our blog over the weekend. Hope you have a great week.
