China Cabinet Update

We took a Craiglist find china cabinet that was 50 years old and with a lot of sanding, painting and sanding again Rob was able to achieve a Pottery Barn like finish.  :)

We spent approximately the following:

Paint  - $20
Sand paper materials -  $20
Handles and Knobs   -  $25
Fabric from Jo-Ann's - $15
China Cabinet - $100

Total Cost of Project - $180
Hours of Labor - Priceless  :)

Thanks for checking out our project. We are so excited about the end result.

  1. How difficult was it to do the painting? I saw that method on pinterest and wondered about it.

Not too bad. Just make sure you sand it down so that the polyurethane is taken off (I used a hand sander with 60 grit paper) if not the stain as well. The hardest part is the intricate detailed parts. After that paint it with a brush let it dry and sand it with 220 or 320 grit sand paper. I did three coats then used minwax semi-gloss polyurethane that came in a spray can. It was not too hard just takes patience.
