Play Area Wall Decor for the Game Piece Challenge

I am taking part in a challenge called The Random Acts of Craftiness through His and Hers blog.  The challenge being that you had to use game pieces in any project that you choose. My daughter's play space was lacking personality with blank walls. I decided to create some wall decor for her area with the game pieces that relate to her age and my love of board games.

The first thing I did was locate the dice I had from when I was an elementary school teacher. Then I used them to create the numbers 1-6 using the coordinating side of the die facing up.  Then I added the paper straw border as I did in her monogram  a few weeks back.  Wynn asks me all the time when she can play this game.

I then scoured eBay for some game pieces to make a few others to go along with the dice. I used the pieces from the game of Risk to make an ABC, and then the property cards from Sesame Street monopoly as a border.  Wynn helped me to make the letters in this project too.

The I created shapes with Wynn out of risk pieces on another canvas. Wynn requested the colors and the shapes and helped me glue them on. We used pieces from a Cranium game to create a fun border. Wynn also helped me with this as well. She was really having fun placing the colors in a pattern.

Growing up my sister and I loved to play the game of Clue and watch the Tim Curry movie. I saw notepads from the game on Ebay and thought I had to do something with them to go in wall decor grouping. I know that Wynn does not understand these, but it certainly makes my sister and I laugh.  If you haven't seen the movie Clue you are missing out on a 1985 masterpiece. Using the names of my two favorite characters in the movie and game (Colonel Mustard and Mrs. Peacock) I created two pictures.  I found some clip art and let Wynn color the mustard bottle and I did the peacock. Then I used mod podge to attach the notepad papers and the clip art images to the canvas.

It was a lot of fun creating these with my two year old daughter. She had a lot of fun.  It was great to find the game pieces on eBay for the most part because I did not have to go and find leftover games at the Thrift store.  I enjoyed taking part in first month of challenges, and am looking forward to the next one.
