Goodwill Lamp Redo

My blogging friend, Amy at While Wearing Heels, had a post up the other day showing off her finds from Goodwill.  Her posts always inspired me to head on over to Goodwill on my lunch hour at work. It's right across the street from my office so it is easy to go there.  I found this brass lamp for six dollars.  I was looking for a lamp for my coworker. She was hoping to find a lamp to avoid having the overhead lighting on all day. I convinced her to let me find one and redo it for her.
I spray painted it with some metallic silver spray paint from Lowe's outside.
I had a shade laying around, and rather than buy a new one I decided to make this one work.   After I put the shade on the lamp I realized that it needed a little something.  This lamp needed a little more bling in my opinion.
My mom had given me a ton of ribbon when she was cleaning out her craft stash, so I added some shimmery silver ribbon to the top and bottom of the shade.  I think it definitely makes the light look more fashionable.

Can't beat the six dollar price tag for this project. I am hoping that she likes it. It's sitting in her office right now, and I can't wait for her to come in and see it.

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. if you are looking to help out the Hurricane Sandy victims please consider sending some socks, gloves or hats to the victims through the idea of Laura at The Shed.  I am going to spend today's lunch hour heading over to the post office to mail some socks off to this great cause.
