Chalkboard Globe Inspired by Land of Nod

I am back with another Land of Nod inspired project. Over the past couple of years I've seen some great chalkboard globe ideas.  Wynn was looking over my shoulder as I was looking at the Land of Nod catalog, and she pointed out that she loved their globe.  I told her if I ever came upon one at a yard sale or thrift store I'd make her one just like it.  Their cost is $50, and the one I completed was $1.25.

Globe

I went to Goodwill on my lunch hour last week. I found this globe for $1.25.
I used some spray paint from previous projects to transform it. I had the Rust-Oleum Chalkboard spray paint and the Valspar Exotic Sea spray paint in the garage cabinets.
It took two coats of each to cover everything completely.

Wynn asked for it to be on her dresser, and said she will love to draw maps on it. I am going to have to get her an updated globe now that she seems to be interested in maps. This globe still had East and West Germany on it, and so it obviously was not very up to date.

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your evening.

    1. I just taped off the metal section first and spray painted the sphere. After it was done drying I covered the sphere in newspaper and spray painted the metal piece. Hope this helps and thanks for stopping by.
