Mickey Mouse Centerpiece

I am involved with my friends in planning a baby shower for our wonderful friend. She loves Disney and especially Mickey Mouse. We are going for a theme that is not really all about the cartoon character itself.  We have all enjoyed using pinterest as inspiration and have even hosted a pinterest party to complete craft ideas and socialize.  :)

I volunteered to make some centerpieces for 10 tables. I had an idea to do a Mickey Mouse head using styrofoam. I headed to the Dollar Tree knowing that they had styrofoam balls that I could use for ears. I was excited when I also found flat circles that I could use for the head.  I was inspired by this image I found on pinterest that is from Catch My Party's website.

Here is what a I purchased for $1 each

5  - 2 packs of flat circles
10 -  packs of three dimensional circles ( there were eight in a bag but only two that were the size I wanted)
1 - pack of skewers
1 - pack of toothpicks
3 - 4 packs of red cups
4 - packs of paper shred

Total Spent - $24 (and I'll be able to use a for other projects)

I had leftover white circle labels from a previous project and black paint that I used along with this project.

First I painted all of the circles and styrofoam balls. Then I used toothpicks to attach the "ears". I then placed some leftover floral foam (used from Dollar Store wreath) to stick a skewer into the bottom of the cup.  I pushed the flat "head" into the skewer.

Then I added the sticker labels to look like the buttons.  I then added the paper shred to top off the cup for additional decoration.

I hope the Mom to Be likes them and I'm happy I was able to get these done for not a lot of money.  I was nervous about the styrofoam thinking I would be spending a fortune.  They are usually around four dollars for the larger styrofoam balls. Thankfully the Dollar Tree as usual helped me out.
