Shutter Stand by Amy & Chris

Chris and I went to a store near us that sells reclaimed & reusable pieces called Second Chance.  We came across shutters and thought of a great way to re-use them.  Last summer we bought a water feature for our deck but we haven't found a table to place it on.

We bought the shutters and decided to make a stand...I spray painted the shutter green...then chris nailed the shutters together. Chris got left over wood from his brother, cut the wood into square pieces to use as the bottom and top.  He then used gorilla glue to glue the wood pieces to the shutter. A coat of polyurethane to finish the project off and viola....

Materials:

Shutters $10
Valspar spray paint (2 cans) $8
Wood: free

Toal: $18

Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoy!

  5. What a great idea!! We just got some shutters from a Habitat for Humanity ReStore that I planned to do over (really rough, dark stained wood) and hang on the wall for mail, etc. Now I have to re-think.....

  20. This is so cute! I love the color too. There are four shutters nailed to the back fence on the house we're renting...I guess someone thought they'd be a great decor element to the backyard?? Anyways I'd love to rip them down and do this with them! Not sure the homeowners would be too happy though...
