Free Father's Day Printable

I know it is probably overdone, but I really get a kick out of the Keep Calm and Carry On sayings out there. I thought I would create one for Rob for Father's Day on PicMonkey.  I have added the link below through Dropbox to share with you for free.  I made the print in the size 5 by 7 inches.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you had wonderful holiday weekend.

A Lowcountry Wedding

I thought I'd share a few images from my sister's wedding this past weekend in South Carolina. Never did I think I would willingly trap myself in a car for a 12 hour ride with two six month olds.  But, it turns out they are excellent travelers. We could not have asked for a better ride to and from. Thankfully, Wynn was able to hitch a ride with family, so we only had to manage the boys.

I'll share a wedding dress picture of my sister once her photographer shares her images. My sister wants to have those shared first.
I love all the monogram items, the seating chalkboard, the Texas shaped grooms cake and the beautiful bouquets.
I thought Wynn and the other flower girl looked like little garden fairies running around the venue. The makeup was too pretty not to take a picture of and then there is the beautiful cake. I love the monogram topper she bought from a vendor on Etsy.
We even got some half way decent sleep and Rob played golf. I'd call that a successful trip in itself. We were so happy we got to join in. Do see the little house behind us? We were able to all stay in these cottages right next to the venue in the plantation. It was so nice and easy for everyone.

PBK Inspired Wall Art

I've done it! I've found a project that I can do with one arm holding a baby.  I saw a beautiful wall art piece on Pottery Barn Kids a few weeks ago, and thought I would try and recreate it at some point for the nursery.

I took a simple canvas that I purchased from Michaels for around six dollars. Then I grabbed a marker from Wynn's desk and simply wrote the words "I Love You" over and over until the canvas was filled. And of course this was all done while holding my sweet non-sleeping child, Davis.

The other amazing part of this project is that it does not have to look perfect or be straight. That means there is no prep needed. You just need a free hand to write in some half way decent cursive.

My canvas is approximately 12 inches by 16 inches, and the canvas PBK offers is 35 inches square. However my $6 price tag is much easier to handle versus the $400 PBK price tag. I don't know if I've ever spent even remotely close to $400 on anything hanging up in my house. I think maybe I've spent that total for all the rooms in my house instead.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful week.

Making Baby Food

Have you ever tried to make your own baby food? This was my first experience. I am now kicking myself for not doing this before. I guess I never really knew how easy it really was to make, and believe me if I can make it with twins and a four year old around me it must be easy.

I purchased a book from Amazon for my kindle. It is a lot easier for me to have my cookbooks on my Kindle, and they actually cost a little less too. I also found some great recipes and tips on websites. I thought I would share them with you.

This is the book I have on my Kindle.  It is very easy to follow and has the recipes set up from the very first solid to more toddler type recipes.

I do not have a fancy baby food cooker to make the food. I just ended up using my basic food processor. I have heard it is also great to use a blender too.

I purchased a few containers for storing the food in the freezer to try them out. I first tried out two sizes of the OXO tot blocks for baby food. I love that they are microwavable. It makes it easy to go from freezer to baby pretty quickly. I have the 2 oz and the 4 oz sizes.

I tried these Fresh Baby trays last night for the first time. I like the size of these and think that it will allow me to not waste a lot of the food in the end.  I made the peaches and pears recipe from the 201 Organic Baby Purees book and put them in these. The two recipes filled each of these trays completely.  I used three pears and four small peaches.

My mother-in-law picked up the NUK food storage container at Wal-Mart for me the other day. I am going to try this out next.

The boys so far are fans of pretty much only sweet potatoes.  They are not fans of peas (like their mom), but I was surprised that they were not to happy to be eating carrots as well.

Here is Davis closing his eyes hoping we will stop forcing him to eat the carrots.

Hopefully once we get to fruits they will be a little happier at the dinner table.

Elephant Baby Shower

I went to a baby shower for my college roommate this weekend. This shower was planned around the favorite colors of the mom to be, which are gray and turquoise blue. We also tied in a baby elephant for the shower theme for the little baby boy to be. I thought I would share a few pictures of the special occassion.

This cake was just as delicious as it was beautiful. It was perfect!

I purchased a printable banner from the Etsy shop Bump and Beyond Designs. It was so simple to cut out and attach to some ribbon to hang across the mantle.
I took my cabinet door chalkboard with me to the party. I drew a quick and easy elephants thanks to simple drawing on the invitation that I could easily mimic. I am not an artist to say the least.

I cut out various animal shapes on gray and blue scrapbook paper for guests to write their well wishes and advice for the mom to be. We used some small blue clothespins to h ang them on some twine across the windows.

Happy shower to my friend, Kate!

Last Minute Teacher Appreciation Gift

Are you looking for something quick and easy for your child's teacher? Head over to the Dollar Tree and snag one of their adorable tumblers. Then add some simple drink packets to the cup. There is a free printable available at Seven Clown Circus that you can attach to the cup. Then you have an adorable gift that cost around $2 per teacher.

The printable has a lot of tags to choose from. There is actually two variations that are given to you for free. Head over to the site to check them out.

I paired the gifts with a sweet Teacher Appreciation Week card from Treat.  I have a subscription to Treat, and I love it because you can send cards directly from their site or send them to you for personal delivery.

Hope you enjoy this thirst quenching gift. Have a great day!
