Owl Baby Shower

This weekend we celebrated a beautiful momma to be with an owl themed little girl shower. I'll first share this amazing cake by my friend, Jes. She is incredible, and literally just makes beautiful cakes like this for fun. She can see an image, and pretty much recreate anything. The best part was we actually ate only at the back of the cake, because the mom to be was wincing when we suggested that we cut the front. She took the front half home for leftovers.

The owl sat at top of a wedding cake stand that was used for a friend's wedding previously. This was also paired with many other desserts and decorations. Another sweet friend made the beautiful sign for the new baby.

How sweet are these owl treats? They were amazing, and had a cream cheese filling.  I may or may not have had several of these.

I created this adorable guest book plate for everyone to sign for the baby. I cut out an adhesive vinyl owl and simply placed it in the center of the plate. The ceramic plate came from Target for about $4. I purchased a Sharpie paint pen for ceramic surfaces and everyone signed it. I also wrote on the back the occasion and date of the shower. I purchased the white frame on stand from the Michael's dollar aisle, and I placed them throughout the shower.

The milk jar glasses from Michaels were so sweet. We added a vinyl label that I cut out on my Silhouette, and Jes wrote all of the guests names on them. We had to use our favorite party item...the paper straws too.

I put a Whooo's Hungry sign on the main table, and you can see we had plenty of delicious goodies.

We kept the decorations simple. I bought a few ceramic owls from Michaels and spray painted them in the party colors. Wynn let me borrow her precious W and it just happened to match the party decorations perfectly.  The baby's middle name is Love, and that is why I added the word love next to the W.  Another frame sign was labeled gifts, and the guests placed them on the ground in front of this desk.

I cut out a vinyl "baby girl" saying to place on a plain white canvas. It went great behind the chair for the mom of honor. I found the cute owl pillow at a kids consignment sale, and it was the perfect pillow for the mom to be's chair.

The owl wreath hung on the door where guests entered. It was a huge hit with the party guests, and many of them said they knew what house to come in since I had shared it on the blog earlier last week.

I scattered a few more decorations around the room to add a little bit of the shower colors.

My friend, Jes, made two beautiful diaper cakes for the new mom. I adore this sweet owl.

 This diaper tower is topped off with the Angel Dear owl mini blanket. It is the perfect topper.

I bought this chipboard album from Michaels, and created a book for the guests to write their thoughts to the baby. I stamped each page of the book with a pink owl.

Here are Jes and I with the mom to be, Kirsten. She was certainly glowing, and she told us it was the most amazing party anyone had every thrown for her. That made me smile!

Owl Wreath for Baby Shower

I have a baby shower that I am hosting along with friends coming up this weekend. I was so excited about this adorable wreath I'm sharing it early. I basically combined two ideas that I found..  The Country Living Owl Wreath and Catch My Party Owl Ornament were both inspiring ideas I found when searching for the Owl themed baby shower. I thought together they could make a Mom and baby owl wreath for the baby shower. This could easily just be an owl wreath for perfect for fall if you left off the baby if you wanted to do that.

I started out with a vine wreath that I purchased from Michaels.  I picked up a set of napkin rings from the dollar aisle in Michaels, and they were marked down 60%. I purchased two packages because each  came with a green and a pink. The colors of the shower are pink and orange, and so these pink napkin rings were perfect for the eyes of the owl. I just slipped the ring section in between the wreath pieces and it was not something I needed to attach with glue.  Then I added a piece of orange cardstock for the beak with a bit of glue.

I cut out two wings from a single piece of brown felt. Then I used some glitter glue to add some quick details to the wings.

I bought a four pack of glass ornaments from Michaels. I took some leftover pink ribbon and filled the ornament with it. 

I cut out some felt pieces for the heart, beak and wings. I glued everything on with my glue gun, and added a felt flower to make it look like a little girl owl.  I used some sitcker eyes as well. I tied it on the bottom of the wreath with some ribbon.  

There you have it. It was an easy wreath to pull together, and I love how it looks like a Mom and baby owl together. Thanks for stopping by!

Elephant Baby Shower

I went to a baby shower for my college roommate this weekend. This shower was planned around the favorite colors of the mom to be, which are gray and turquoise blue. We also tied in a baby elephant for the shower theme for the little baby boy to be. I thought I would share a few pictures of the special occassion.

 This cake was just as delicious as it was beautiful. It was perfect! 

 I purchased a printable banner from the Etsy shop Bump and Beyond Designs. It was so simple to cut out and attach to some ribbon to hang across the mantle.

I took my cabinet door chalkboard with me to the party. I drew a quick and easy elephants thanks to simple drawing on the invitation that I could easily mimic. I am not an artist to say the least.

 I cut out various animal shapes on gray and blue scrapbook paper for guests to write their well wishes and advice for the mom to be. We used some small blue clothespins to h ang them on some twine across the windows.

Onesie Making Station for Baby Shower

My amazing friends threw a baby sprinkle in honor of the boys recently. They had thought of every little detail. I am so grateful for their creativity and willingness to put on such a great party. They had a onesie making station set up for the boys.  

Guests were able to pick out an iron on transfer cutout and iron them on the onesies provided for the boys. Here are some of the creations that my guests came up with. I cannot wait for the boys to be able to wear them.I think this would be cute to do along with burp cloths too.

The mustache on the bottom of this one is just too cute!

Precious Cargo Baby Sprinkle

My amazing friends threw me a baby sprinkle for the boys. A sprinkle is just a scaled down version of a baby shower. We already have so many baby items from Wynn, so this was a chance to get some boy specific items or double of some items that we may need the most.  It was a lot of fun, and the details of it were just adorable. They went with a theme of Precious Cargo. Here are some images from that afternoon.

They used cute maps and globes to decorate. The cupcakes looked like the earth inside of them with the blue and green combo. The cupcake stand was covered in maps on the bottom of each tray.  I loved the In Flight Beverage Service sign.

These adorable planes with signs were hanging above the food table.

Guests were asked to drop off their baggage (gifts) too. We received so many wonderful gifts and necessities.

Cute as a Button Baby Shower Game

We are hosting a Cute as a Button themed baby shower on a budget in a few weeks.  I decided to do one game for the shower that does not require everyone to participate all at once. We are having ladies, husbands and kids at this shower, so not everyone will be able to play along simultaneously. 

I modified this activity from a great one at While Wearing Heels where she created a calendar to guess the date the baby will be born.

I added our theme to the activity by asking the guest to stick a button to the date where they are guessing the date "on the button".  They would then write their name next to their button as well. Here is the set up:

Since our baby shower is on a budget I used leftover buttons from a few other projects I've created for the shower and leftover scrapbook paper.  Then I created calendars for two months because she is due closer to the beginning of November, and you never know she could be early.  I just printed off some simple calendars from Word. I put some buttons for people to stick on in a small flower pot.  Then created the little sign along with it.

Cute as a Button Baby Shower Decor

Amy and I are throwing a baby shower with the theme of "Cute as a Button" .  We are trying to keep to a budget for decorations, and I wanted to try and use items that I already had around the house. I saw this Melissa and Doug box that my daughter's molding clay accessories had come in.   The best part about this box was that it was covered in a chalkboard paint inside.  

 I used some buttons that I had purchased from Oriental Trading to cover the outside of the box.

 Then I wrote in the center and added some buttons to a few of the letters. I think it will be the perfect addition to this baby shower, and I was able to use the materials I already had available.  I wonder what I can do with all those other Melissa & Doug boxes I have lying around.

Craft Project: Ribbon Strip Garland

I wanted to create this ribbon garland that I saw on the website Catch My Party.  http://catchmyparty.com/photos/277419

I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics and they were having a 30% off sale. I was able to get a total of 2.5 yards of fabric for 12 dollars approximately.  I actually got a half yard of five different prints.

I then cut the fabric into 2 inch strips the length of each half yard.  I then used yarn I already had to attach the strips to simply by knotting the fabric in the middle.  Here is the finished product...

Very simple and easy to do. This will be a decoration at a baby shower...maybe part of the backdrop for the table with the food or drinks.
