Dollar Tree Thumbtack Pumpkin

Two years ago I saw the most incredible pumpkins pinned on Pinterest. They were done by Shannon at Madigan Made. (click on the link for the tutorial)  I've made a few of these since, and I absolutely love them.

All you need to get is a pumpkin and push pins from the Dollar Tree. I then wanted to have something other than the typical brass or silver coloring, so I used some leftover metallic spray paint to finish the pumpkin off.

The pumpkin sure does gain some weight once all those thumbtacks are added. I used approximately four boxes of tacks per pumpkin. That makes it about four dollars a pumpkin since all of the materials came from the Dollar Tree.  I literally just sat there during my favorite shows and just kept adding tacks until I was done.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Enjoy your week.

  4. I suppose this wouldn't work with ceramic pumpkins, huh :)...Love the chic makeover you gave your dollar store pumpkin. Looks great.

  5. That looks pretty cool. I bet if you spray painted the pumpkin underneath, you could have a little more leeway and not have to cover every speck of yellow.

It does look awesome though! Love it!

  8. Ah now I have much better idea what my $ tree pumpkin can look like. I sprayed it with silver and was going to add some kind of embellishment but nothing appealed, til now. Love the thumbtack look, awesome. Great idea and think adding thumb tacks to it can only make it look better, put some pizzazz in it. Happy week
