Updated Nursery Gallery Wall

It has been a month since my last post. I will go ahead and blame it on the fun I am having this summer with the kiddos. We are preparing for the arrival of baby #4, and thankfully he is going to be eventually sharing a room with the boys. That means that there is a essentially no nursery to do for him alone. However, there are a few updates I am making to the room we did for the twins in order to make room for this little guy.

I had some wall art that I purchased from Etsy on the wall above the PB Knock Off Bed that Rob built for the nursery. However, now that bed will be moved out to make room for the third crib in the room. I have a vinyl decal to put above the crib, and so then I needed to move the art to a different wall in the room.

I had previously purchased two birth announcement printables from Etsy, and they had been the only two lonely pieces of wall decor on this larger wall that you see when you enter the room.

 I purchased a third similar frame from Amazon to place the new baby's announcement in it when that is ordered. I took the three frames and assembled them along with the other three Etsy pieces I had on the wall rather quickly. I had to go and pick up the kiddos, and so this project took me approximately 10 minutes to pull together.

I cut out some bow tie shapes in turquoise adhesive vinyl and randomly placed them on the wall after I hung up all the artwork.

I am happy with the finished product, and if I ever need to change it it should be very easy to do. The turquoise of the bow ties coordinate with the mobile I made for the boys two years ago. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Nursery Wall Art

One of my favorite people in the world is having a baby in July. My college roommate is seriously one of the nicest people I know. She shared nursery art that she had seen on Etsy and asked if I had time to create something similar for her.

I purchased shelf liner in beach blue chevron on Amazon for $10.99.  For some reason though they do not have the beach blue as an option now. You receive two rolls for a total of 120".  

I cut the shelf liner down to size for an 8x10 frame from Michaels. I was able to get three frames for under twenty dollars.

I bought a giraffe, elephant and rhino/hippo combo images from the Silhouette Online Store for $.50 each. I used two 12 x 12 vinyl sheets I already had purchased and used about a half of each of them total.

I think this is just what the mom-to-be had in mind. I really hope she likes them.  Enjoy your day.

Nursery is Complete

Well this weekend I got the day bed pulled together in the nursery. This was the final to do on my list for this room. I hung the artwork that I ordered from Etsy Shops Slightly Sprightly and Dalloway Place.  That turned out to be the perfect spot for it after all.  Then I added some king size pillows, pillows from our previous guest bed and then two 18 x 18 pillows with covers from The Pillow People Etsy Shop. I really love the new pillows in the dark navy.

 Here is another view of it from the bottom of the bed and up. I found that the large wipes boxes from Pampers fit perfectly in those little storage areas below. I plan on wrapping some empty ones in fabric once I got through some of them. I have a feeling I will be able to do that pretty quickly in a few months.

Vinyl Letters for Painted Frames

After scouring the vinyl letters on Etsy I finally broke down and ordered two simple letters once we figured out the names for the boys. I purchased them from Open Heart CreationsHere is how they look in the nursery...

 Here is the view of Ty's crib. You can see that they have some cute clothes already hung up in their closet. Their drawers are also filled to the brim with clothes already. They are some lucky little guys.

 The view of the crib for Davis. Rob likes that the letters are simple and we can always swap them out for artwork when they get older if we would like to do that.

 The names of our little guys will be Ty Beckett and Davis Flynn. Thank you to Weiya from Enjoyer of Grace for making these sweet little frames with our little guys names in them. She is so extremely thoughtful. Stop by and check out her wonderful blog if you have a chance.

Painted Wall Frames for the Nursery

Over two years ago I pinned an image from Pottery Barn Kids site of a painted frame on a wall. I knew that if I had the chance I would try it out in a kids room down the road. When we found out we were having twins I was searching through my pins and saw the pin I've shared at the bottom of this post. We came up with the following for the nursery for our boys:

We had a large wall to decorate where we wanted to place the two cribs. I knew that I did not have a budget for large scale artwork, was not in the mood to DIY a gallery wall and that Rob was not going to go for stenciling or wallpapering.  Then I showed him the pin from PBK and he liked it.

We first put together one of the cribs to determine how large of a rectangle we would like to do above each of them.  We then used painters tape, a tape measure and a level to create the rectangles.  I picked up two colors from Valspar at Lowe's in the sample size containers in a navy and a darker gray.

This is what the wall looked like after we spent about twenty minutes or so taping out the shape we were happy with on the left.  Then we applied two coats of the navy blue and one of the gray in the middle. 

 Then we pulled out all the tape and this is what we had left.  Once it dried it turned out great. I think it really adds something to the wall in a pretty inexpensive way. I am going back and forth with whether to put an over-sized vinyl initial or to do something framed that is name related. I guess I will be doing some more searching on Etsy.

Here is what I found through the Pottery Barn Kids catalog a few years ago and pinned on Pinterest. I do not have a link to the original source as it is off their website now.  

The total cost for this project was about $8. I already had the painters tape, but I factored in a portion of that to try and come up with a total. The samples ran a little over $6 at Lowe's.

Banner for the Nursery

I was searching for something to place above the ledges that Rob had built for the books in the nursery. My first thought was to purchase or make wooden letters or maybe a vinyl word. I remembered I had picked up some gray fabric a few months back at Jo-Ann's with no particular project in mind and I could make a banner.

I ironed out the fabric, and then cut it into four banner pieces. I also then cut out white vinyl adhesive letters on my cameo machine. I like that I was able to have this banner put together in only a few minutes. I attached the banner pieces to some pom pom ribbon I had from Christmas with a glue gun.  I used small wire brads and hammered the banner in place. The brads are hidden in the two poms at the end.

I really like how simple it looks with the shelves we have for all the board books we have accumulated with Wynn.

Nursery Progress & Book Ledges

The boys room has gotten some attention recently, which has been a lot of fun. I am happy that they ended up being the same gender. I was really nervous about planning a room around two genders for a little while there. 

I had seen a lot of inspiration on Pinterest for book ledges for the room. I decided this would be the best route to take in terms of cost and space. I did not want to have to find a bookcase that matched the style I would be looking for either.  I shared with Rob a project I saw on Ana White's Blog where readers share their projects. He simply used some leftover wood from our ongoing kitchen project to create these 36" long ledges. 

Wynn has already been "checking books out of the library" as she says, and I think they will work great with the rest of the space.

I purchased these adorable prints from Slightly Sprighty on Etsy and framed them in my Home Goods finds.

I also ordered this print from Dalloway Place on Etsy in a navy blue background, and I will group the three prints together on a wall sometime soon.

 

I picked up this cute basket from Home Goods for toys and extra books for only $15. I thought it would fit in with the color scheme pretty well.

Masking Tape Wall Art

I purchased this roll of masking tape on clearance at Target. Anything with a red clearance tag generally catches my attention there. I picked it up for around $2.50.

I found a frame in my basement that was not being used anywhere at the moment.  I wrapped the masking tape around a piece of cardboard in the frame and then added some cut out vinyl from my Silhouette Cameo.  This took about five minutes to complete, and will fit easily into the nursery.  Right now I'm going to for a gray, white, navy and teal color scheme no matter what the genders are going to be.

Adorable Nautical Nursery

My sorority sister recently shared her baby nursery on Pinterest.  She does not have a blog, and  I asked her immediately if I could share her amazing space.  I knew others would enjoy viewing such a special room.  She lives near the beach so the nautical theme is just perfect. Here are some of the photos she shared. Feel free to pin them if you'd like to do so.

She made the beautiful quilt and bumper in such an adorable fabric.  She refinished the oar herself and made the artwork. She purchased the other coordinating accessories that hang from the oar.

 She then also created this beautiful wall art, and was inspired by a pin she had found on Pinterest.

Her beautiful rocking chair was the one that her mom had used when she was little. This beautiful bunting that hangs across the window was also handmade in the same fabric as the bedding she made.

 Another beautiful feature in the room is the mirrored closet area. It looks so beautiful and perfect in this room.
