Fall Wreath and the New Addition

I have been missing in action over the past several weeks. I did actually have a really good reason to be. On August 12th, I gave birth to our fourth child. Our newest addition is our sweet little boy who weighed close to ten pounds. My biggest baby by far. I'm not quite sure how he got that big considering I moved more and had most of my meals eaten by two growing one year olds. It feels like he has already been a part of the family. I am sharing a cute little picture of him at the bottom of this post. 

Well, I really wanted to incorporate a new color scheme to my fall decor. I picked up some navy chevron burlap ribbon from Michaels. Using a straw wreath with the plastic covering still in place I wrapped the wreath with the burlap ribbon. Then I took the fall themed arrangement from Michaels and attached it to the wreath with floral wire. 

I made a simple bow from burlap ribbon and brown satin ribbon to top off the wreath. I wanted simple and sweet, and something I could make between feeding the baby. Although, this one was also made with the twins hovering at my feet wondering what I was doing and asking all sorts of questions.

Glad to have something on our front door that says we are ready for the change in season. Even though this week we are still going to be in the low nineties and high eighties temperature wise. Have a great week!

Come On Spring Wreath

As I sit here typing this we have just received a few more inches of the lovely white stuff. I think this year having three kiddos on the go makes me long for spring even more. I want to get outside with everyone and go places. I feel like we have been inside for as long as the boys could walk. I decided I was ready for a spring wreath. I know it may be wishful thinking in mid-February, but I am thinking positively.  

I used the great tutorial again from Top This Top That.  I love how easy it is to make this wreath, and then you can add decorations as the season changes.

I used a wire wreath form, about two and a half rolls of plain burlap, a smaller roll of pink burlap, Silhouette vinyl, Silhouette machine, a wooden plaque from Michaels and shelf liner.  I made the wreath and added the bit of burlap in pink at the top. I figured that saved me from making a big bow for the top of it since it already resembles a bow.  Then I placed some shelf liner on the wooden plaque I got at Michaels. It comes off pretty easily, and so I think I will be able to peel it off and reuse it if I felt like changing up the wreath.

I cut out the word Spring on my Silhouette Cameo machine, and then attached the wooden plaque with some ribbon I had on hand. I added an extra paper flower from a set I picked up in the dollar aisle at Michaels with a glue dot.   I did glue the ribbon to the backside of the plaque, and then tied it through the wire at the top.  I am hoping maybe that cute little groundhog was wrong and spring will be coming earlier after all. Burlap Holiday Wreath

HomeGoods recently opened up in our town and it was a big deal. Generally we have to drive about a half an hour or so to the closest one. I know that does not seem like a lot of time, but it will be nice to have one about five minutes away. I am not sure my wallet will believe that though.  To be honest the only item I purchased was a wooden deer head for $7.  I was not quite sure what I was going to do with it, but I decided it would be incorporated into my holiday mantel.

I have often admired Laura from Top This Top That's beautiful wreaths. Following her amazing tutorial I created this wreath. I am not including the step by step instructions here, so click on the link I just shared for the tips you'll need to create your own.

I used some leftover chevron burlap (4 yards) and approximately 16 yards of plain burlap to create a beautiful wreath.  I used an 18" wire form to make this particular wreath.   The chevron burlap is from Hobby Lobby, and the other materials are from Michaels.

I hung the deer head from the buralp string it came with to attach to the wire frame. This will be headed to my fireplace mantel along with a few other items.

Rob was making a beautiful set of stocking holders today when he unfortunately cut his fingers with his biscuit joiner.  Fortunately, we live close to the hospital and was stitched up quickly.  I told Rob that it may be easier to just purchase the stocking holders I originally shared with him as inspiration.  Thank goodness for great medical attention.  Thanks for stopping by.  

Patriotic Wreath

I had pinned a beautiful Halloween wreath from The Crafted Sparrow a few months ago, and really wanted to create something similar for a wreath for all the Patriotic summer holidays.

I purchased some burlap with red,blue and silver accents from Michaels, a straw wreath form, colored felt and some mini pinwheels. I used a paper star I already had and some pins to attach the pieces of the wreath together.

I wrapped the straw wreath form in the plastic it came wrapped in, and that helps it not fall apart.  I then followed the instructions from the The Crafted Sparrow to add the felt pieces. Here was my pile of them after I cut them out. I was not too worried about the them being the same perfect shape. I need to cut them out quickly.

 I then let Wynn decorate a paper star for me to add. She decided to draw the blue and red lines around the edges. I thought it looked very good for a four year old. Then I took a part a pinwheel from the stick it came with and put it in with a pin.

Spring Wreath

My friends and I got together a week ago and had a craft night. We each made a fabric covered wreath and we followed a tutorial provided by The Newlywed Pilgrimage.  

I purchased three different spring like pattern fabrics and the 18" straw wreath from Hobby Lobby.

 Then we made simple burlap flowers for the wreath decorations. We had a great time getting together and making the wreaths.

My friends also made some burlap monograms signs similar to what I have shared here on the blog. 

Valentine Plate "Wreath"

I found a plate on clearance last year at Michaels and then just added it to my pile of crafting supplies. I decided to make a simple plate wreath for my front door for Valentine's Day. I have limited time nowadays during "nap time", and so this project was perfect because it took less than five minutes from start to finish.

I had a wooden word cut out from Michaels and painted it with white craft paint. Then I simply glued it with my glue gun to the plate. Then I added some ribbon to the back to create a way for the plate to hang on my front door. Cute and quick! Now these are starting to be my favorite types of craft ideas.

Recycled Valentine Wreath

I think I am at it again with recycling a wreath I've already made to fit a new holiday.  I took my Halloween Wreath and added some fun Valentine details to it.  

I added some pink ribbon and some felt Valentine stickers to it. I am excited that once again I did not have to come up with a new wreath for my front door. I hope you have a great Valentine's Day. I will be spending mine at a high school boys basketball game with the kids cheering on Rob's team.

Patriotic Letter Wreath

I created a patriotic letter wreath for my friend as a housewarming present. I picked up a large wooden letter from Michaels for a few dollars and a sheet of moss.

I traced the letter onto the back of the sheet of moss with a sharpie. Then I applied some glue to the letter and attached the moss after I cut it out.

Using some leftover paper flowers and some ribbon I was able to add a little bit of embellishment in patriotic colors.

I'm hoping that this will be the perfect decoration year round since she lives in seaside town, and this has a somewhat nautical feel to it as well.

Patriotic Cupcake Liner Wreath

This coffee filter wreath is the wreath that keeps on giving.  I first created the wreath for a spring and summer design.

I removed the embellishments and created a Valentine Wreath with some simple hearts added instead.

This is the next version I have created. I figured that this wreath could go from Memorial Day to July 4th.  I had some cupcake liners that I bought for less than a dollar at Jo-Ann Fabrics last summer.  I added the the liners by wrapping them every few inches around the wreath.

I still have plenty of liners leftover in the package to actually use for cupcakes.  I had some leftover star decorations from the Dollar Tree and I attached those where the hearts and previous fabric flowers were placed.  Thanks for stopping by!

Printers Drawer and Wreath

My parents just gave me their printers drawer. I remember this hanging in our kitchen growing up with all sorts of knick knacks in it. My grandmother has one also in her kitchen still. I took a straw form wreath and wrapped it in jute. Then I added some fabric rosettes and banner with buttons.

I am very excited to have the printers drawer to use for future project. It is going to stay just the way it is because Rob said there is no way it will ever get painted. :)

Spring Wreath

I'm officially over winter! There I said it and I feel so much better now. Between our household being taken down by a cold and the dogs begging for walks I do not want to take in 30 degrees or less I figure I'm moving on to spring by making a wreath.  I purchased some ribbon and wreath form from Hobby Lobby.  Then I purchased some paper flower pack from Michaels for around $2 and used some of them along with some other flowers I had bought on clearance over time.  

This wreath is going to hopefully go on my mantel once I complete the rest of the projects I have in mind.  Hope everyone is having a great day!

Valentine Wreath

I decided that I would use my coffee filter wreath as a Valentine's wreath as well. I just simply took off my decorations that I had previously used and then added a few felt hearts I picked up at Jo-Ann Fabrics.  No sense in letting a perfectly good wreath only be useful for one season or holiday. I think I will continue to just make simple changes and keep it for multiple occasions.  

All you need to do is simply flatten the coffee filters and layer them on top of one another. I attached the filters using a hot glue gun, and was able to cover the straw wreath form in a matter of minutes. Then I simply attached the hearts at the bottom.  I used the straw wreath form from Hobby Lobby, and actually left it inside the plastic covering it came packaged in. That makes it a lot easier to maintain the shape, and then you are not cleaning up straw pieces that would fall off over time.

Valentine's Day Yarn Wreath by Amy

This was my first attempt at making a yarn wreath. I picked up red yarn at Michaels that was on sale, a heart ornament and Styrofoam wreath. This was definitely a tedious project. I simply wrapped the yarn around the wreath and hot glued the ornament.

This project cost around $12.

Ice Cream Party Wreath

I think I may need to go into rehab for wreath making. I never knew I would love to find new ways to make them.  I picked up some coasters and a ice cream sign at Jo-Ann Fabrics at the end of the summer for a grand total of $2.00. Then I picked up a two dollar wire wreath frame.  I took apart the sign that originally had the celebrate sign and ice cream cone wired together. Then I glued the pink coasters around the wire frame.  Then simply glued the two pieces of the sign to the wreath.  Another project completed during a children's show...I think this one was PB& J Otter. ;)

I think for $4.00 is it pretty cute and cheery.  I am not a fan of winter, and I think this is my way of getting a feeling of summer. Maybe I should move to Australia during the winter months here. :)
